How can I find the averages of bonds going back 5 years?

I need to know the averages and indexes going back 6 months, 1 year, and 5 years. these are for bonds only- Is there a website that will give me these histories for S&P 500, Russell, and
Dow??? this investment course is killing me!!

There is a problem with your question. What type of bonds? There are T-bills, short term bonds, intermediate bonds, long term bonds, junk bonds, corportate bonds, quasi government bonds, muni-bonds, and on and on. And what kind of average–average price or average yield. Average yield is normally what people mean when the talk bonds.

There is a good way to determine the average yield for the 10 year U S treasury bond. That is available on Yahoo finance as are the S&P 500, and the Dow 30. Here is a link to the 1 year graph. Take it from there.

There are several great websites- i hope one of these helps! When you get on them, try to narrow down the category of bonds, and look for historical returns and mountain charts.
