Nope that’s whats wrong with America today. We need to take care of ourselves before trying to play big brother to the rest of the world.
With America helping other countries…I think it’s great, BUT I think they should spend more time and more money helping people in our country first. We have homeless people, orphans, diseases, hungry children and many other problems that I think we should be focusing on. Charity begins at home.
Most poor countries have governments that are not even trying. That is why commies spread so fast. The government takes over everything. Education is only a benefit if people have jobs other than farming. No country can catch up unless corporations dump in large amounts of cash on jobs.
Rich Nations already do help (especially The United States but some forget and accuse the U.S. of never helping even though the U.S. is the most Generous Country in the World and others are now trying to compete with the United States on who can donate the most Money).
Elton John spoke about how much he wanted Bush to lose in 2000 but he had no problem asking Bush for more money to be spent on fighting AIDS.
Elton John told Congress that no person, country or corporation has the money the U.S. Govt has to help end AIDS and that no one even came close.
However Elton John and loads of other Wealthy persons have the Money to help end AIDS, and while Elton has donated some money for it, he could always be donating more instead of begging the Govt of a Country he doesn’t live in to do it.
Countries such as the U.S., Japan, Germany, England, France, and many other developed nations have exploited the natural resources of undeveloped countries, ignoring the impact of environmental damages and the health hazards created by toxic wastes. They’ve taken advantage of the opportunities provided by poverty and uneducated people who ultimately suffer first and the most from unethical and greedy foreign governments and corporations.
Only in recent years has it become accepted that those who have been responsible for the negative impact their exploitations have caused should be the ones that bear the burden of restoration and providing education and public awareness campaigns to reverse and/or repair the damages.
Education, conservation and alternative methods of livelihood are not possible without financial aid from wealthier countries.
To answer you question = rich nations should apply the same standards of economics to poor nations as they provide to poor communities in their own countries. However, in some countries, like N. Korea and Burma, it is unrealistic and a waste of time to try to help the poor. That’s because their governments refuse to distribute foreign aid to the people.
Give a hungry man a fish and he won’t be hungry - Teach a man to fish and he’ll never be hungry again. (Education)
We already do. As a country, and individuals. What is your favorite charity, and how often do you donate time or money? Rich nations, like the U.S.A. have some very very poor people, and should feed and educate there own first.
