What’s it like starting as an Investment Counselor with David Lerner Associates?
Rainbow asked:
There is a recruitment seminar in my area this Wednesday and I’m thinking of going. Someone told me to be careful because they’ll ask you to sell to you friends and relatives. Has anyone out there gone to one of these seminars? What’s it like? Does anyone work for David Lerner Associates? What’s it like? What do you actually do?

Having worked on Wall Street I think I can help here. Being an investment counselor or financial advisor is basically sales. And yes you will be expected to sell to friends, family and basically anyone you know. Or at least ask for referals.
You may wish to check out a company called LTS, they offer very valuable advice for someone like yourself. They are located at. GOOD LUCK
Yes, the job is mostly commission based.
You will need to risk your friendships because you will be asked to sell to friends, family, and everyone you meet.
You may make a few sales, but eventually end up losing most of your friends and social contacts, because people will not be certain you won’t try and push something on them every time they meet you.
And their financial products are not good, from what I have heard.
Save yourself a lot of pain and heartache. Move on to something else.
